Happy Independence Day for those of you reading this in America! Wherever you’re reading this, we are halfway through 2022. This is the perfect time to do a gut check on the goals you’ve set for the year if you haven’t already. Here are a few simple things you can do.

  1. Review your goals – read over your goals and ask yourself two things, “do these still make sense?” and “what’s the status?” Life is fluid. It’s ok for goals to change. There could be new priorities that have emerged. Reset as needed and note what progress has been made.
  2. Be SMART – re-apply the specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timebound methodology. Goals should be aligned with your daily activities and have timelines associated with them. Check out this link for guidance: https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/smart-goal-examples .
  3. Reinforce accountability – how are you holding yourself accountable? Having a person or group who you regularly check in with about your goals increases your likelihood of achieving them. This could be a coach, mentor, friend, family member, or community of like-minded people.
  4. Consider the ONE thing – check out https://the1thing.com/ . When you focus on one thing at a time, you’ll accomplish more in less time. Multi-tasking may seem like a productive way to get things done but learning how to do one thing at a time will increase your productivity and reduce your stress.
  5. Celebrate your wins – what are goals without the fun of celebrating them? Whether it’s writing and reflecting, going to your favorite hot spot, or celebrating with others, pause and appreciate the progress you’re making. Be proud of your hard work!

What other tips do you have for staying on track with your goals?
